Welcome to “The Spreadbetter”. My name is JohnnySpreadbet and this is my blog.
Whats it all about? Well as you can guess it’s about my favourite pastime which is financial spread betting. I say pastime because they cost money and boy has it cost me.
I first opened my spread bet account in March 2003. If you can remember that was when the US annexed Iraq and it was also the beginning of a bull run that was to last until the end of 2008.
Its been one helluva ride. But quite frankly I’m hooked. Hooked on the Monday morning open and the frantic last hour of trading. Hooked on CNBC’s fanfare-like starting bell and hooked on the switching on of my PC blurry eyed for the asian markets.
Spreadbetting IS my life.
It’s an addiction that’s for sure. But I wouldn’t change it for the world. My only problem is that the markets don’t trade seven days a week. Weekends are hell.
Because weekends are so damn boorring I need an outlet for when the markets aren’t open. And so my friends this is it. My blog, ‘TheSpreadbetter’.
On this site please dont expect first class guru type analysis. I am no expert. I am an everyday fool trying to make this work for me. That said, after six long years of ups and downs even a numbskull like myself has learned a trick or two.
On this blog I will talk about my trades and strategy. I may get round to some of the other issues associated with spread betting and if I have the inspiration may give my penniesworth on current economic issues of the day. All from my very rudimentary understanding of things. Please enjoy.
